Unable to resist the siren call of music and the fun of working together, siblings James Combs and April Combs (formerly of the band Arson Garden) have returned to the stage as HONNEYCOMBS.
Arson Garden, as you might remember, were considered one of the best and brightest midwestern alt-art-rock bands of the 90′s. Championed by British DJ John Peel (who invited them to do a Peel Session for his BBC1 radio show), the band went on to play the Lollapalooza festival, had their videos aired on MTV’s 120 Minutes, and were called by the Chicago Reader “perhaps the only art-rock band in America that matters.” They played to packed clubs throughout the US and Europe.
This time around James and April are sharing both the vocal mic and the songwriting. April’s dear friend Laurie Burnham just happened to be a great harmony singer and so, voila – the distinctive sound of HONNEYCOMBS was born: evocative songwriting, harmony singing, and a powerful live show all rolled into one.
